    Event description

Join us for a wonderful showcase of short narrative films from the lower South Island. Dunedin Short Film Screening is proud to present a rich and varied collection of original stories, created by local filmmakers and set in familiar landscapes.

All of the films featured were completed between 2022-2024. The freshest, “The Reality of Love” was made for the current round of the 48 Hour Film Festival by a Queenstown team led by actor, producer, writer Amalia Remus and writer, director, producer Jonty Norton.

The screening offers the chance to catch two internationally released Dunedin shorts on the big screen, ”The Girl, The Lamb & The Man" by Jacinta Compton and "Flora & the Greater Good" written and directed by David Hay, following their recent festival successes.

Other highlights include the premiere of "Relocation" by Sergey Sushinskiy, a topical story of a Dunedin woman whose family are caught in the war in Ukraine, at the time of the Russian invasion. Also debuting is "The Second Hand Shop," a Waitaki production written by Ramonda Te Maiharoa, where a young teen faces unforeseen repercussions after discovering a Waitaha Taonga, directed by Bridget Ellis.

After the screening there will be a Q&A with the filmmakers, and a gathering in the downstairs foyer, with some food provided (dependent on ticket sales) and the bar open until 9 pm.

We advise booking early to secure your seats.
